Marguerite Lofink

Marguerite E. Lofink age 98 of York, NE died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at York. She was born December 13, 1909 to George and Katherine (Engel) Lofink in Lincoln, NE. Marguerite was a graduate of the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, receiving her BS and MS in education. She was a former secondary teacher for Chase County High School in Imperial, NE, Lincoln Public School in Lincoln, and also taught in Okemas, MI. She was a state consultant in secondary and post-secondary education with the Kansas State Department of Education and the Michigan Department of Education. Marguerite retired from Michigan in 1973 with 41 years in educational services. She was a former member of the American Home Economics Association, Michigan Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Adult Education Association, Altreesa Club of Greater Lansing, and Delta Kappa Gamma Society. Marguerite was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in York where she served as an Elder, on Board of Deacons, and Presbyterian Women. Since her retirement she was a member of Retired Teachers, Hospital Auxiliary, York China Painters, Blue Valley Food Pantry Committee, University of Nebraska Alumni Association, and Home Economics Club.

She is survived by her sisters; Mildred Beins of York, Frances Schwantz of Coon Rapids, MN, Grace Gropp of Fresno, CA, and Myra (Sam) Johnson of Chandler, AZ. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents George and Katherine (Engel) Lofink and step-mother Alta, brother Edward and sister Ruth.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 20th at 11:00 a.m., at the Metz Chapel in York. Following the funeral service, Marguerite was cremated and her ashes will be inurned in the Fresno Memorial Gardens at Fresno, CA. Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church in York.
