Betty Lister

Betty Jean Lister, age 72, of York, NE, died Sunday, September 21, 2008 at Lincoln, NE. She was born on August 2, 1936 at Utica, NE to Floyd and Ann (Hromas) Covert. She was a nurse and worked in Kansas as well as the Seward Hospital in Seward, NE. Betty Jean was an avid fisherman but enjoyed reading, crafts, bingo and baking as well. She was united in marriage to Carl Hansen on August 2, 1953 at Utica. Carl passed away on July 21, 1971. On August 18, 1978, Betty Jean married Leland Lister at Delphos, KS. He passed away on September 14, 1992.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Carla Smith of Salina, KS; grandson Paul Smith of Salina; granddaughters Angela Martinez of Delphos, KS and Erica (Kevin) Lemieux of Lincoln, KS; great-granddaughter Brianna Smith of Delphos; great-grandsons Marco Martinez of Delphos, Wyatt Sawyer of Lincoln, KS and Logan Lemieux of Lincoln, KS. Also surviving are three sisters, Beverly Thompson of Seward, NE, Bonnie (Chuck) Eret of Seward, and Becky (Ron) Hulse of Utica, NE; four brothers, Bill (Kathy) Covert of Utica, Bob (Jane) Covert of Divide, CO, Brad (Jeanette) Covert of Utica, and Burt (Wanda) Covert of Utica; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents and both husbands.

Memorial services were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the Metz Chapel in York. Betty Jean was cremated so there was no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be directed to the family.
