Julian Lind
Julian W. Lind age 88 of York, NE, died Saturday, August 30, 2008 at York. He was born January 20, 1920 to George C. and Eva (Harbert) Lind at Benedict, NE. Julian was then baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Zion Lutheran Church at Benedict. He was a 1937 graduate of Benedict High School. Julian served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during WWII in the South Pacific. Julian worked for the York Packing Plant as a butcher and foreman and later for Pioneer Seed Company.
On February 3, 1946, Julian was united in marriage to Dama Frieda Epke at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Waco, NE. Julian was currently a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. He was also a member of the American Legion Bolton Post. Julian enjoyed attending auctions, fishing, and traveling. Most important though was the time spent with his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Dama of York; son Michael (Carol) Lind of Polk, NE; daughter Marsha (John) Nelson of Hastings, NE; grandchildren: Zachary Nelson of South Sioux City, NE and Whitney Nelson and Miles Nelson of Hastings. Also surviving is his brother George Lind of Sebring, FL; sister Alice (Everett) Rathje of Gresham, NE; sisters-in-law Elta Davis of York and Ardis Epke of Lincoln, NE; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Julian was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Grant Coonley, sister Grace, and stepbrother Franklin.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverends Tim Marshall and Mike Neidow officiating. Military graveside services followed at Greenwood Cemetery in York.
