Betty Lewis

Betty F. Lewis, age 82, of York, NE, died Friday, March 07, 2008 at York. She was born September 25, 1925 at Cordova, NE to August and Mary (DeKamp) Jensen. She graduated from Cordova High School and was married to Marion E Lewis on September 2, 1945 at York. She lived and farmed with her husband in the Bradshaw community and was a member of the Bradshaw United Methodist Church. Betty was a lover of all animals, enjoyed life on the farm and cooking for her family and friends.

She is survived by two sons: Darrel (Pat) Lewis of Beloit, KS and Robert (Diana) Lewis of York. Grandchildren include: Carrie (Brandon) Rogers of Joplin, MO, Jeremy (Mary Beth) Lewis of Kansas City, MO, Josie (Curtis) Clem of New Bloomfield, MO, Heather Lewis of Manhattan, KS, Benjamin (Leigh) Lewis of Lincoln, NE and Elizabeth (Mark) Johnson of Forney, TX. Great-grandchildren include: Kaitlyn, Trenton and Abigail Rogers, Sawyer Clem, Nathan, Avery and Henry Lewis, and Ryan and Olivia Johnson. Betty is also survived by four brothers: Joey (Luverne) Jensen of York, August (Janet) Jensen of York, Donald (Susan) Jensen of Norman, OK, and Gary (Connie) Jensen of Salina, KS; six sisters: Lorraine (Gordon) Darling of Friendswood, TX, Marjorie Lundy of York, Mary Ann (Lloyd) Wright of Blytheville, AR, Carol (Ron) Anderson of Colorado Springs, CO, Deanna (David) Reetz of York and Edith (Thayne) Stewart of Bath, PA. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law: Rae Jensen of Grand Island, NE, Ruth Jensen of Lincoln, and Irene Lewis of York. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers: Robert, Gale, James and Allen, and a sister Marilyn Lortz.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Bradshaw, NE with the Reverend Jim Corson officiating. Burial followed at the Greenwood Cemetery in York. Memorials may be directed to Bradshaw United Methodist Church.
