Lorraine L. Levitt

Lorraine L. Levitt, age 98, of York, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at York. She was born July 7, 1909 at Ord, NE to John S. & Frances (Ptacnik) Vodehnal. She attended rural school and graduated from Ord High School in 1928. She also attended the Lincoln School of Commerce in Lincoln, NE. Lorraine was employed by Lincoln National Bank & Trust Company. She came to York to work at York’s First National Bank in the trust department. She was married to E. A. Levitt on March 7, 1936. They had two sons, Charles D. Levitt and John R. Levitt. Lorraine & E.A. celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1986. Mr. Levitt preceded her in death in May of 1987.

Survivors include her two sons, Charles and his wife Rose of Ashville, North Carolina and John of York; five grandchildren, Shana M. Levitt, Elijah A. Levitt, Katherine L. Levitt, Heather L. and her husband Tim Loveless and Shawn O. Levitt; two great-grandchildren, Addisen A. Loveless and Bergen T. Loveless. Also surviving are two brothers, one sister and a host of nieces, nephews and friends including two special friends, Lori Rasmussen and Shirley Manning. Besides her husband, Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, three brothers.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church at York with the Revs. Art Phillips and Bill Armold. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery at York. Memorials may be directed to York Community Foundation, York College or charity of the donor’s choice.
