Rev. Anderson "Andy" Kwankin

The Reverend Anderson “Andy” Kwankin age 73 of York, NE died Saturday, December 22, 2007 at York. He was born August 27, 1934 in Pauri, Garwhal India to Wilkinson and Basanti Kwankin. Reverend Kwankin served numerous churches over his 40-year career including Cambridge, Stromsburg, Polk, McCool Jct, Allen and Lincoln all in Nebraska. He also served churches in his home country of India as well. He attended the First United Methodist Church in York. On January 25, 1960 he was married to Elizabeth David at Dogadda, Garwhal, India.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Kwankin of York, three sons Vinit Kwankin of Omaha, Alok and his wife Shalini Kwankin of Lincoln and Jyoti Kwankin of Grand Island. One daughter Binita and her husband Joseph Hmieleski of Highland Park, ILL. His grandchildren include Nicholas Kwankin and Amber Kwankin of Omaha, Rena Kwankin and Raj Kwankin of Lincoln and a great granddaughter Jasmine Kwankin of Omaha. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Edward Wilkinson and a grandson Isaac Hmieleski.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverends Art Phillips and Baldeo Singh officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery at York with memorials being directed to U.M.C.O.R., the United Methodist Committee on Relief.
