Frances Kunze

Frances Edith (Rea) Kunze, age 86 of York, NE died Saturday February 13, 2010 at York. She was born March 1, 1923 to Harry E. and Minnie C. (Erickson) Rea at Red Oak, Iowa. On November 30, 1947 Fran married Kenneth K. Kunze. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for many years. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York. Fran loved horses and was an excellent rider. She is a Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and was an active member. Fran enjoyed people and worked for the State of Nebraska at the I-80 rest stops giving out information to travelers about Nebraska’s different tourist attractions. She enjoyed traveling with the Fun Club and was always on the go with her best friend Connie Wallingford.

Fran is survived by her son Ken R. Kunze and wife Mary Beth of York; granddaughter Kay and fiancée Chris Barbeler of MacKay, Australia; granddaughter Karen Bohaty and husband Clinton and great grandchildren Trinity and Gage of Syracuse, NE; grandson Kristopher Kunze and wife Jenny and great grandson Kaiden of West Des Moines, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her brother Morris Rea.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Reverend Terry Cosier officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, York. Memorials may be directed to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eastern Star or to the donor’s choice.
