Adolf Kulhanek

Adolf Kulhanek Jr., age 65 of York, NE died Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Geneva, NE. He was born in Wahoo, NE on December 23, 1943 to Adolf and Bessie (Skoda) Kulhanek. After graduation from David High School, he joined the Air Force. Jr. served in the Air Force from January 1963 until January 1967. He worked for Nebraska Public Power District from January 1967 until his retirement in March 1999. He was past President of the York Eagles Club, enjoyed going to flee markets and spent his summers going to garage sales and fixing things. He was united in marriage to Sheila Miller on February 6, 1965 at Lincoln, NE.

He is survived by his wife Sheila of York; two sons: Alan (Shelly) Kulhanek of Lincoln, NE and Robert (Andrea) Kulhanek of Mobile, Alabama; and three grandchildren: Cassidy Kulhanek of Mobile, AL and Sadie and Noah Kulhanek of Lincoln. Four sisters, Darlene (LeRoy) Folkerts of Beatrice, NE, Betty (Hank) Rozanek of Schuyler, NE, Doris (Larry) DeFord of Lincoln, NE and Pat McMeekin also of Lincoln. He is also survived by mother-in-law Bertha Russell of Lakeland, Florida, father-in-law Melvin Miller of Fort Morgan, Colorado, brother-in-law Randy Russell of Denver, Colorado, and two sisters-in-law Sandra (Mike) Killian of Gainesville, Florida and Glenda (Ken) Owens of Lakeland, Florida. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Linda Luebbe and his father in law David Russell.

Jr’s family will greet friends on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Metz Mortuary from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm. Mr. Kulhanek has been cremated. No viewing of his body and no formal services will be held. Memorials may be directed to his family for later designation.
