Harley Kruse
Harley Gerhard Kruse was born on January 16, 1914 near Waco, NE to Herman and Katherine (Tieken) Kruse. He had an 8th grade education. He married Edna Kathryn Naber on January 13, 1938 St. St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Utica, NE. He was a farmer, farming in the Waco and Beaver Crossing areas until retiring to York, NE in 1989. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church south of Waco, NE, where he had been an Elder and Trustee, and LLL member. They transferred to Faith Lutheran when moving to York. Harley and Edna celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on January 13th. Harley was a resident of Blackhawk Life Care Center in Lake View, IA at the time of his death on July 23, 2005 having moved to Lake view to be near his only child, Gary and his family. Upon moving to Lake View they transferred their membership to Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View.
Survivors include: his wife Edna, son Gary & wife Myrna, 4 grandchildren; Jeff (Sherry) Kruse; Julie Kruse, Jerry Kruse & Delta all of Lake View, Jamie (Natalie) Kruse of Mansfield, WI; 2 step-granddaughters, Victoria Grafft of Colorado Springs, CO and Krystal & Paige Busch of Springdale, AK. 10 great-grandchildren; Nathan, Nicole, Noah and Nichelle Kruse, Shawndra Kruse & Christopher Nelson, Elizabeth, Meredith, Jacob and Michael Kruse. 4 step-great grandchildren and 5 step-great great grandchildren. 3 sisters; Sylvia Staehr of Lincoln, Flora Stuhr of York and June Stuhr of Waco. Also surviving are Fay Kruse of Lake View and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 25, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the St. Johns Lutheran Church at Waco, NE with the Reverend Arthur Schauer officiating. Burial will be in the St. Johns Cemtery. Metz Mortuary of York is handling local arrangements.
