Norman Kroeker

Norman Kroeker age 85, of Henderson, NE died Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Henderson. He was born on April 14, 1921 near Charleston, NE to Jacob G. and Sarah (Epp) Kroeker. Norman’s family moved to Madrid, NE in 1927 where he graduated from Madrid High School and then worked for Flaming Implements overhauling Model D John Deeres. During WWII, Norman entered Civilian Public Service. On December 27, 1942 he was united in marriage to Verna Quiring at Madrid. In 1946 Norman and Verna settled down on a farm near Madrid where they lived until moving to rural Henderson in 1951. They continued to farm until they moved to Henderson in 1981. Norman served as president of both the Henderson Rural Fire Protection Board and the Farmers Cooperative Telephone Company. He was a faithful member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church where he enjoyed working in the nursery for several years after retirement. When health no longer permitted him to attend church, he listened to the radio broadcast of the services. He also enjoyed working in his yard.

Norman is survived by his wife Verna of Henderson; three daughters, Elaine Schroeder of Goessel, KS, Gladys and her husband Chris Christopherson of Athens, AL and Doris and her husband Bob House of Topeka, KS; three sons, Glen Kroeker and his wife Bonny of Juniata, NE, Don Kroeker and his wife Sandy of Henderson and Max Kroeker and his wife Patty also of Henderson; six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Vesta, brother Archie and sister-in-law Sarah.

Memorial services were held December 9th, 2006 at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson with the Rev. Weldon Martens officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. No viewing or visitation as it was Norman’s wish to be cremated. Memorials may be directed the Henderson Health Care Services.
