Harold Kroeker
Harold Wayne Kroeker age 77 of Henderson, NE died Friday, October 9, 2009 at Henderson.
He was born October 3, 1932 at Henderson, NE to Harold J and Minnie (Wiens) Kroeker and graduated from Henderson High School in 1950. He then graduated from Grace University Bible Institute in 1953.
Harold owned and operated Kroeker Grain and Lumber in Henderson.
He was a longtime active member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson where he served as a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. A firm believer in Mission work he was involved in PAX serving in Germany. He also made several service trips to Haiti, Germany and Utica, NY.
He thoroughly enjoyed singing and directing numerous church choirs including the Chancel Choir, Men’s Choir and the Youth Choir as well.
An avid sports fan he enjoyed attending his children’s and then his grandchildren’s sporting events throughout the years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and working alongside his family.
On September 2, 1955 he was married to Doris Dick at Henderson.
He is survived by his wife Doris of Henderson, his sons Dave and his wife Kim Kroeker of Hillsboro, KS, Jay and his wife Marilyn Kroeker of Henderson, John and his wife Michelle Kroeker of Lincoln, NE and Paul and his wife Cora Kroeker of Henderson.
Thirteen Grandchildren and one great Grandchild.
Also surviving is a brother Philip and his wife Velma Kroeker of Upland, IN and a sister Sandra and her husband Orval Schmidt of Wakarusa, IN.
Many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the Bethesda Cemetery north of Henderson. Memorial services will then follow at 10:30 am Wednesday at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson with the Reverend Weldon Martens officiating.
Memorials may be directed to overseas missions in care of the family.
Visitation will begin after 1:00 pm Monday afternoon with his family greeting friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the mortuary in Henderson.
