Jean Kreifels
Jean Louise Kreifels age 88 of York, NE died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at York. She was born January 3, 1921 to Walter R. and Evelyn (Murphy) French at Inman, NE.
Jean was a graduate of Stromsburg High School and attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln. On October 22, 1939, she was united in marriage to Melvin H. Kreifels at Stromsburg. Together they farmed near Bradshaw, NE until retirement in 1981. Jean was a member of the First United Methodist Church in York and the Extension Club. She enjoyed traveling and taking trips with the Fun Club. Other interests included reading, fishing, Nebraska football and volleyball, and especially the time she was able to spend with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Doug (Deb) Kreifels of Niskayuna, NY and Stan (Karen) Kreifels of Littleton, CO; two grandchildren: Kevin Kreifels of Niskayuna and Heidi Kreifels of Littleton; two brothers: Walter R. (Dorothy) French Jr. of Lincoln, NE and Wendell French of Seattle, WA; sister-in-law Maxine Zeliff of Bradshaw; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Elizabeth Lamoree.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Kreifels has been cremated, so there will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be directed to York Adopt-A-Pet or Operation Voice and Love (A non-profit organization that provides teddy bears with recorded voices of deployed military personnel for their children.) at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 15002 Blondo Street, Omaha, NE 68116-4150.
