Elmer "Andy" Klippenstein

Elmer “Andy” G. Klippenstein age 86 of Henderson, NE died Saturday, October 14, 2006 in Lincoln. He was born November 13, 1919 at Henderson to George and Anna (Dick) Klippenstein and graduated from Henderson High School in 1937. After high school he attended York College for one year before receiving his bachelor’s degree from Bethel College. Elmer was a physical sciences teacher having taught first in Gosal KS for 13 yrs where he also coached basketball. Next he taught in Halstead KS for several years before moving to Santa Ann, California where he taught at the Community College for 18 yrs before retiring back to Henderson, NE. For several summers Elmer would take his family back to the University of Purdue where he earned enough credits for a PhD in physical science. Elmer loved sports especially golf, he loved working on computers and was a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. On July 3, 1943 he was married to Elvera Dalke at Newton, KS.

He is survived by his wife Elvera of Henderson, one son Jim Klippenstein of Henderson and a daughter Barbara and her husband Rick Zellman of Fullerton, CA. Two grandchildren, Josh Zellman and Andrew Zellman both of Fullerton, CA. Three brothers, Don and his wife Betty Klippenstein of Indiana, Irvin and his wife Lois Klippenstein of Fullerton, CA and Leroy Klippenstein of New Jersey. Also surviving is a sister Martha Friesen of Henderson. Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Harvey.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson with burial in the Bethesda Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
