Randy Tidd-Kleinholz

Randy Alan Tidd-Kleinholz, age 55 of North Bend, NE, died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Tabitha Health Care Services in Lincoln, NE. Randy was born March 13, 1955 in Lincoln, NE to Richard E. and Virginia A. (Gates) Tidd and was later adopted by step-father Myron Kleinholz.

Randy was baptized May 8, 1955 at Grace Methodist Church in Lincoln. Moving to York, NE in 1958, Randy entered the nursery class at Evangelical United Brethren Church in 1959. Randy became a member of East Avenue United Methodist Church May 11, 1969. He attended York Public Schools and graduated from Pine Ridge Youth Center in Chadron, NE. Randy attended Ankeny Iowa Vocational School where he took printing courses, Montana Vocational School with courses in Gemology, and also attended Lincoln School of Commerce in Lincoln.

A paraplegic since October 7, 1988 and in remission from cancer, Randy was a very independent person living on his own, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and shopping. Randy was an avid reader and loved science fiction, poetry, and had a collection of medical books. Randy also had a passion for music of all kinds, but mostly classics from the 70’s. Randy played the guitar, made jewelry, sewed, and many arts & crafts projects. Randy loved being with family and friends.

Randy is survived by his mother Virginia Kleinholz, sister Michelle Appleton, and family canine pet Sniffer all of York, NE; two nieces Shana Appleton of Cincinnati, OH and Jessica (Drew) Green of Huntsville, OH; half sisters Melanie Tidd Lane of Colorado and Shane Tidd of Florida; uncles Martin Gates and Forrest (Linda) Gates all of Norfolk, NE; cousins Lori Gates, Kelly (Erika) Gates, Brett Gates, Heather Gates, Eric Gates all of Omaha, NE, Sheri Scott and SueAnn Gates of Norfolk, Lynette (Charles) Murry of Fullerton, NE, and Tony (Kim) Kohl of Columbus, NE; and special friends John Shaw and John and Margie Shaw of North Bend. He was preceded in death by an infant brother David Kleinholz, his father, and his step-father.

Memorial services were held at 11:00 am, Friday, June 11, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in York. Memorials may be directed to the family.
