Loyd Kleen

Loyd Kleen age 71 of York, NE died Sunday, August 6, 2006 at York. He was born April 19, 1935 to Henry and Mary (Lambertus) Kleen and graduated from Chester High School in 1952. He then graduated from Southeast Community College with an associate’s degree in Diesel Mechanics. Loyd was a veteran serving as a sergeant in the Marine Corp from 1954 until his discharge in 1956. After his military discharge Loyd was employed at International Harvester in York until it changed ownership and became York Equipment retiring in 2001. He was an active member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York where he served in many capacities. He was also a member of the York American Legion Post, Elks Lodge and enjoyed hunting, traveling, tinkering and surveying at ‘the farm’ at Chester. He also considered himself an outdoor conservationist as well. On May 4, 1957 he was married to Edith M. Palmer at Chester, NE.

He is survived by his wife Edie of York, two sons, Randy Kleen and his special friend Jackie Diep of Houston, TX and Mitch and his wife Tina Kleen of Pasadena, TX. Two daughters Deb and her husband Lonny Dishman of Seward, NE and Amy and her husband Dan Bailey of Siloam Springs, AR. Grandchildren include: Jared, Dana and Risa Kleen all of Houston, TX, Melissa and Chelsea Kleen of Pasadena, TX and Cory and CJ Dishman of Seward, NE. Josh, Janelle, Shanna, Christina, Curt and Drew Bailey all of Siloam Springs, ARK. Also surviving is a brother Kenneth and his wife Kaye Kleen of Tekamah, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Seth Bailey.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York with Pastor Terry Coosier officiating. Graveside services followed atChester Cemetery at Chester, NE. Memorials may be directed to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York, The American Cancer Society or to the York County Food Pantry.
