Mary Kathryn Kirkpatrick

Mary Kathryn Kirkpatrick, age 84 of York, NE died Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Lincoln, NE. She was born April 3, 1923 to Henry F. and Agnes M. (Becker) Geiger at rural Utica, NE. She was a 1941 graduate of Utica High School. Mary Kathryn was united in marriage to Frank Clark Kirkpatrick on May 21, 1956 at Utica, NE. She helped her husband on the farm and also worked at Western Electric in Lincoln for 11 years. Mary Kathryn was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York and was a member of the Alter Society. She belonged to DOES, VFW Auxiliary, and the Hi-Neighbor Extension Club. She enjoyed sewing and working with stained glass. Mary Kathryn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Roger Kirkpatrick of Grand Island, NE and Clark (Linda) Kirkpatrick of Lincoln, NE; daughters: Ann (James) Wurst of Burwell, NE and Teresa (Dan) Basich of Doyline, LA; grandchildren: Jamie (Mark) Walters of Grand Island; Kenny (Melissa) Kirkpatrick of Omaha; NE, Whitney Kirkpatrick of Omaha, NE; Colton Kirkpatrick of Lincoln; Colby and Heath Wurst of Burwell; Jerry Kirkpatrick of Shreveport, LA; Shirley (Chase) Naron of Benton, LA; Tara Doell of Hastings, NE; Chris (Erin) Doell of Fort Sill, OK; and Miranda (Manuel) Rodriguez of York; great-grandchildren: Remmington Naron of Benton, LA; Jeremiah, Tessi, and Trey Doell of Hastings; Abraham Doell of Fort Sill, Sebastian Rodriguez of York and Caleb Walters of Grand Island.. Also surviving is a sister Marcella Geiger of Aurora; sisters-in-law Revonna Geiger of Arlington, VA and Doris Geiger of Utica, NE; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Preceding her in death was her husband, parents, brothers Gerald and Charles, infant sister Doris, and grandson Jeremiah Wurst.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 3, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York. Burial followed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary was said at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday evening at Metz Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the family.
