Mildred King

Mildred M. King, age 90, of York, NE, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Lincoln, NE. She was born on April 14, 1918 in York County, NE to Marion and Blanche (Stetzel) Thorne. She was a member of the New Life Church of the Nazarene in York. She was united in marriage to Floyd King on August 19, 1939 in York. Mildred devoted her life to taking care of her family and had a number of hobbies, including gardening, crocheting, quilting and making wedding cakes.

She is survived by her son Doug King and his wife Sheri of Lincoln; three daughters, Twila Bell and her husband Gary of Enid, OK, Norma Pohl and her husband Wilfred of York and Marlene Watkins and her husband Dave of Lincoln. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a brother Virgil Thorne of York; and a sister Dorothy Walford of York. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two sons-in-law, two brothers and one brother-in-law.

Funeral services were Monday, May 5, 2008 at the New Life Church of the Nazarene in York with the Reverend Stephen Sheets officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in York. Memorials may be directed to the family.
