Luella Karrer

Luella L. Karrer, age 97, of York, NE, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 in York. She was born May 15, 1913 at Benedict, NE to Arthur J. and Nellie (Fusby) Oberg. A graduate of Benedict High School, she attended Kearney State Teacher’s College and then taught country school in Benedict. On June 16, 1936, she was married to Dr. Robert E. Karrer at Benedict.

Luella was a member of the First United Methodist Church in York. She was a member of Chapter A P.E.O., American Legion Auxiliary, DAR, and the Blue Valle Salon #766. She was also a member of B.P.O.E. Does, Eastern Star Grace Chapter # 87, United Methodist Women, life member of York General Healthcare Auxiliary, and Daughters of the Nile.

Survivors include her daughter Karen and her husband James Klute of York, NE; two grandchildren, Wendy and her husband Wojciech Kotas of Fridley, MN and Derek and his wife Lynnell Nicholson of Lincoln, NE; four great-grandchildren, Annabella Kotas, Roman Kotas, Ryan Nicholson, and Jacob Nicholson; and one step great-grandson, Justin Anthony. Also surviving is a brother, Leland and his wife Phyllis Oberg of Lincoln, NE; and several nieces and nephews. Luella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Lucile Cunningham.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 18, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Pat Norris officiating. Burial was in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Adopt-A-Pet in York or the first United Methodist Church, York, NE.
