Henry J. Janzen

Henry J. Janzen, age 98 of Henderson, died Monday, September 05, 2005 at Henderson. He was born December 5, 1906 in Hamilton County near Stockham to John C. and Katie (Friesen) Janzen. Henry was married to Bertha N. Kroeker at Henderson on March 12, 1931 and they lived and farmed near Henderson until their retirement. He was a member of the Faith Evangelical Bible Church at Henderson and had taught Sunday School for over 20 years. Henry is survived by his wife Bertha of Henderson; son Arvid and his wife Darlene Janzen of Henderson; 6 daughters, Geraldine and her husband LeRoy Peters of Henderson, Roine and her husband Harlan Peters of Henderson, Wanda and her husband Donald Goertzen of Lincoln, Marlyce and her husband Larry Fowle of Grand Island, Betty and her husband Ardean Franz of Henderson and Donna Yost of Lincoln; 27 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Sheila (Kevin) Huebert of Henderson and son-in-law Donald Mendel of Doland, SD; brother-in-law Carl Kroeker of York and 4 sisters-in-law, Mildred Epp of Henderson, Pauline Kroeker of York, Shirley Kroeker of York and Pansy Janzen of Henderson. Preceding him in death were his parents, son Melvin Janzen, daughter Janice Friesen Mendel, brothers Frank & John, sisters Tena Dick, Marie Siebert and Erna Goossen; grandchild Becky Renae Franz; great-grandchild Shannon Thiessen and 3 sons-in-laws, Dale Friesen, Ronald Hiebner and Robert Yost.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2:00 pm at the Faith Evangelical Bible Church in Henderson with the Rev. Michael Fink. Burial will be in the Mennonite Cemetery southeast of Henderson. Memorials may be directed to the family. Visitation will begin on Tuesday at 5:00 pm at Metz Mortuary at Henderson. Condolences may be emailed to metz@metzmortuary.com.
