Floyd Jacobsen
Floyd M. Jacobsen, age 66 of York, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at his home in York. Floyd was born October 28, 1938 in Fairmont, NE to Clyde and Marguerite (Crouse) Jacobsen. He was a 1956 graduate of Fairmont High School and belonged to Fairmont Federated Church. He also graduated from Milford Trade School as a diesel mechanic. Floyd served in the Army from 1957-59 and was married to Karen Hoffman at Thayer, NE on April 16, 1961. They lived and farmed north of York for many years. In 1968 he became a member of Faith Lutheran Church and has served as Elder, Sunday school superintendent and chairman of the Board of Parish Fellowship. Floyd loved farming, truck mechanics, selling Security Mutual Life Insurance and owning York Feed Yards.
Survivors include his wife Karen of York; son Todd and special friend Judy of York; daughter Penny and her husband Jim Schneider of Alexandria, MN; son Larry and wife Treva of York; daughter Judy and her husband Jerod Heidtbrink of York; six grandchildren, Ryan and Ricky Hulse, Reid Heidtbrink, Samantha and Courtney Jacobsen and Ty Schneider. Also surviving are his 3 brothers; John (Pearl) Jacobsen of Delia, KS, Francis (Beverly) Jacobsen and Bill (Jean) Jacobsen all of Fairmont; his father-in-law Elroy Hoffman and brother-in-law Jim (Kim) Hoffman; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Glenn and his mother-in-law Florence Hoffman.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2005 at 11:00 am at the Faith Lutheran Church in York with the Rev. Arthur Schauer officiating. Cremation will follow with inurnment at a later date at Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Thayer. Visitation will begin Saturday at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Faith Lutheran Church, Hospice Care of Nebraska or the family.
