Kevin Huebert

Kevin Arnette Huebert was born August 12, 1955, in Henderson, Nebraska, to Arley and Zella (Ratzlaff) Huebert. His life ended October 22, 2011, after a 16-month battle with esophageal cancer. He graduated from Henderson High School in 1973 and attended Nebraska Technical College in Milford and the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Daytona, Florida. On December 21, 1981, he married Sheila Terese Regier. Their union was blessed with two children: Erin Terese and Ian Kevin.

He started Huebert Land Leveling with his brother, Cecil, in 1994. Kevin enjoyed a range of hobbies and activities. He belonged to the American Motorcycle Association, the Nebraska VW Club, the Antique Tractor Club, and the Bluestem Book Club. A favorite Sunday afternoon activity was riding his BMW motorcycle. He also loved restoring and maintaining vintage motorcycles. He refurbished a 1970 Bug and a 1959 VW pickup. In 2000, he renovated an Airstream trailer, which Kevin and Sheila took to Winfield, Kansas for bluegrass festivals. Not only did he use Caterpillars for work, he collected antique Cat crawlers. Other things he tinkered with were antique cameras, typewriters, and toy steam engines. In 2006, Kevin and Sheila became owners and operators of the Dutch Kitchen.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Sheila, their two children, Erin and Ian; siblings Sherylyn Schmidt and her husband, Duane, of Paoli, IN; Cecil Huebert and his wife, Janet, of Henderson, NE; Burdette Huebert of Garden Grove, CA; and Jay Huebert, and his wife, Renae, of Henderson, NE; and thirteen nieces and nephews. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Arley and Zella Huebert, and sister-in-law Kim Huebert.

Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the Buller Cemetery. Memorial services followed at 11:00 a.m., at the Bethesda Mennonite Church, Henderson. Memorials may be directed to the Grace Children’s Home.
