Orville Hoffschneider
Orville Hoffschneider, age 89, a lifelong cattle feeder and farmer of Waco, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 11, 2004 at York. He was born July 30, 1914 in West Blue Township of York County to Henry G. and Henrietta (Naber) Hoffschneider. He was baptized, confirmed, and received his education at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Waco. On October 2, 1938 he married Ruth Brackhan at St. John’s Waco where he was a lifelong and dedicated member. He was actively involved in his church.
Orville was a past member of the York County Feeders Association, a 4-H leader, Waco School Board member, York General Hospital Board member and served on numerous other civic committees. He enjoyed buying and marketing cattle, and riding his quarter horse in the cattle pens. He was always very optimistic about York County Agriculture. Orville was a loving father and grandfather and enjoyed his family and friends.
Survivors include two sons and wives, Mike and Jan Hoffschneider of Beaver Crossing and Maurice and Beth Hoffschneider of Waco; three daughters and husbands, Justine and Loren Wiemer, Coleen and Herman Hirschfeld and Peggy and Wayne Heine all of Waco; fifteen grandchildren, Byron and Jody Wiemer of Utica, Denise and Paul Kopcho of York, Danielle and Dan Kucera of Utica, Craig and Shirley Wiemer of Omaha, Kristie and Bill Fousek of St. Paul, Reba and Mike Crisman of Valentine, Matt and Lisa Hirschfeld of Gilbert, AZ, Aaron and Tricia Hirschfeld of Waco, Chad and Lana Hoffschneider of Waco, Jill and Ryan Koch of York, Ryan Hoffschneider of Waco and his fiancé Kerry Heine of York, Kelly and Angie Hoffschneider of Lincoln, Wade Heine of Lincoln, Paige and Doug Glasshoff of Brainard, and Audree Heine of Waco; nineteen great-grandchildren, Briianne Wiemer of Lincoln, Justin and Eric Wiemer of Utica, Lauren and Trey Wiemer of Omaha, Sara, Brandon and Blake Rosberg of Omaha, Kelsey and Kinsley Kopcho of York, Kendall and Keaton Kucera of Utica, DeAngelo and Adric Hirschfeld of Gilbert, AZ, Madalynn and Cole Fousek of St. Paul, Jackson and Kate Hirschfeld of Waco, and Cooper Koch of York. Also surviving are his sister and brother-in-laws, Irma Irma Hoffschneider of York, Eleanor Hoffschneider of Paxton, IL, Norman and Donna Uffelman of Melfort, Saskatchewan, Phyllis Scott of Melfort Saskatchewan, Elaine and Dave Mansfield of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Leona Campbell of Lacombe, Alberta, Agnes Uffelman of The Pas, Manitoba, and Pat Avison of Abbotsford, British Columbia.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Ruth, two brothers, Erich and Clarence Hoffschneider and one sister, Wanda Schulz; brother-in-laws, Norman Schulz, Clayton Scott, Ken Campbell, Elroy Uffelman and sister-in-law, Evelyn Avison.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, south of Waco with the Reverend Paul T. Kern officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s cemetery.
