Maynard D. “Noots” Hoeft

Maynard D. “Noots” Hoeft age 70 of York, NE., died Friday, October 29, 2004 at York.

He was born April 22, 1934 north of Bradshaw, NE., to Carl George and Grace Mae (Gue) Hoeft.His education began when he attended Country school as a young boy at Arboreville, NE., and then he attended Willard Grade School in York. He graduated in 1951 from York High School.Noots served in the United States Army prior to being employed at Bee-Line Motor Freight (formerly McAllister Transfer Co) retiring after 41 years of service. Following his retirement he worked at the York County Fairgrounds for an additional 10 years. He loved the outdoors especially hunting, fishing and gardening. On June 3, 1961 he was married to Lois Ann Mozer at York.

He is survived by his wife Lois of York, two daughters, Jean Ann and her husband Kevin Wade Edwards of Omaha. Nancy Ann and her husband Hugh Don Davis of Goodyear, Arizona. A grandson; Jeremy Wade Edwards of Omaha, Also surviving are three brothers; Marold “Bud” and his wife Vi Hoeft of York, Bob and his wife Joan Hoeft of Grafton and Donald and his wife Joyce Hoeft of Elwood. Two sisters; Joan and her husband Marvin Hunsche of York and Judy and her husband Larry Johnson of Omaha. His mother-in-law Sylvia Whitmore of York. A sister-in-law Marion and her husband Richard Theobald of Geneva. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Shirley Jean Pinneo and a brother Dennis Carl Hoeft.

Funeral services were Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Timothy Marshall officiating. Burial was in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or to Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York.
