Betty Hobson

Betty Jean Williamsen Hobson went to her Heavenly home on Sunday Sept 6th, 2009. She was born on April 17, 1928 to Elmer and Ruth Mae (Pinneo) Williamsen. She was the 3rd child of 10 children. Betty grew up around and graduated from Exeter High School. Later she also earned an associate degree in Food Service. Betty was a very hard worker and worked for everything she had. Among various jobs she mainly cooked and waitressed in numerous restaurants, including a number of years at the Hunters Lounge in Waco, NE. She was well known for her wonderful prime rib. She was also very glad to give her daughter and daughter-in-law much needed advice about cooking. Hobby’s of Betty’s included: sewing, upholstering, and cooking. She was very proud of her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved all the teenagers that she worked with at the restaurants. Betty had many friends. She was very independent and hated asking for help. She had her own mind and was very strong willed. Betty is preceded in death by her husband Roland Hobson, parents Elmer and Mae Williamsen, brothers Merrill Williamsen and Kenneth Williamsen, and sisters Merna Hofferber and JoAnn Reinsch.

Survivors include: sons Donald (Marlene) Brown of Springs, Texas; David (Diane) Hobson of York; and Randy Hobson of Thayer, NE; and daughter Cathy (Mike) Torske of Lincoln, NE; four grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Nancy (Mugs) Cohagan of McCool Jct., NE; Doris Foote of Syracuse, NE; Ardell (Jane) Williamsen of Pasadena, Maryland; Bill (Gwen)Williamsen of York; Sharon (Rick)Wells of Howell, Michigan; sisters- in- law: Annie Williamsen of San Anselmo, California; Chris Williamsen of Friesland, Wisconsin; Kay Hobson of Lincoln, NE; Kathryn Hobson of Seward, NE; brother-in-law Virgil (Eva) Liermann of Waco, NE; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday at Metz Chapel with the Reverend Kim Dunker officiating. Burial will follow in the Waco Cemetery, Waco, NE. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-9 pm and Wednesday from 9am-9pm at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family.
