Ray Hild
Ray Hild age 92 of York, NE formerly of Benedict, NE died Sunday, September 19, 2010 at York.
He was born October 13, 1917 at rural Brady, NE to George and Sophie (Fickenscher) Hild. He lived in Brady for a time working the family’s farm. Later he moved to Benedict, NE where he worked at the Farmer’s CO-OP from 1956 – 1984. He was a member of the Benedict United Methodist Church where he was active on the Church Board. Ray was a volunteer on the Benedict Fire Department, a member of the Benedict Men’s Club, Benedict Town Board and a Boy Scout Leader with Troop 167. Ray was also a former member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge at Brady, NE. He enjoyed playing semi pro baseball at Brady, dancing, playing cards and playing in the Nosmo King band. He thoroughly enjoyed being with his family and attending all of his grandchildren’s activities.
On May 9, 1940 he was married to Ellen Louise Cross at Benedict.
He is survived by his two sons; Gary and his wife Janet Hild of Benedict and Jim and his wife Helen Hild of Seward, NE; daughter Donna and her husband Bill Day of Lakewood, CO; 8 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by two brothers; Roy and his wife Lily Hild of North Platte, NE and Lloyd and his wife Renata Hild of Los Angeles, CA. Many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Louise and a grandson Eddie Hild.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Friday, September 24, 2010 at the Metz Chapel in York with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Benedict, NE. Memorials may be sent to the family for later designation.
