Sharon Hiett

Sharon Ann Hiett age 64 of Thayer, NE died Sunday, July 22, 2007 at her home. She was born June 5, 1943 at York to Martin and Fern (Neujahr) Sackschewsky. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church at Thayer and was a graduate of Thayer High School in 1961. Sharon enjoyed Husker football, raising cattle, attending concerts and horse races, playing cards and working with flowers in her garden. Sharon’s home was the Thayer area and was very proud of her grandchildren and step grandchildren. Sharon was formerly employed at the ASCS office in York for many years before working at the J & M Tavern in Waco. She also helped her husband farm. On May 12, 1963 she was married to Gary “Buzz” Hiett at Thayer.

She is survived by her husband Buzz of Thayer, one daughter Holly and her husband Todd Tonniges also of Thayer. Two granddaughters, Genevieve and Shasta Tonniges of Thayer, Three step grandchildren Matthew, Lucas and Elizabeth Tonniges all of Ravenna, NE. Also surviving are three brothers, Delmar and his wife Rozella Sackschewsky of Eustis, NE, Lonnie and his wife MaryLou Sackschewsky of Hartington, NE and Max and Diane Sackschewsky of Thayer. Many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her father and mother in law Ivan and Genevieve Hiett and niece Tory Sackschewsky.

Funeral services were Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church at Thayer with the Rev Lee Seetin officiating. Burial was in the Zion Cemetery at Thayer. Memorials may be directed to the Zion Lutheran Church.
