Vera Jean Hees

Jean Hees, age 83 of York, NE died Sunday, January 10, 2010 at her home in York. She was born November 29, 1926 at Union, NE to Wade and Vera (Ellis) Moore. She graduated from York High School in 1944. She later graduated from York College in 1968 and then from UNL in 1970. Jean and Homer Hees were united in marriage on January 15, 1946 at York. They owned and operated the Davis Paint Store in York for many years. Jean also taught in the Edison and Willard Elementary Schools in York. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and traveling.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Homer of York; two daughters, Nancy (Dr. Francis) Lenhart of Bowling Green, OH, and Peggy (Jim) Brumbaugh of Hamburg, IA; six grandchildren, Matthew Myers of Bowling Green, Mitzi Nannen of Lincoln, NE, Nicholas Brumbaugh of Hamburg, IA, Nathan Brumbaugh of San Francisco, CA, Wade (Erin) Brumbaugh of Sidney, IA, and Elizabeth (Doug) Weber of Rockport, MO; fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving is one niece, Camille Pope Norman of Louisville, KY, cousin, Phil Towle of York, and cousin Wally (Harriet) Towle of Hot Springs, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Dorothy.

Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 15, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in York. Burial was in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Adopt-A-Pet in York or the First United Methodist Church in York.
