Correne Hedrick
Correne “Corky” Y. Hedrick age 85 of York, NE died Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at York. She was born on February 9, 1923 to Verle E. and Gertrude F. (Walter) Hedrick at rural Gresham, NE. Correne graduated from Gresham High School in 1941. She was employed by Banker’s Life of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE for 38 years, working in the accounting department.
Corky was a member of the First United Methodist Church in York, NE, serving on the Memorial Committee for 17 years and also sang with the choir. She was a member of Club 15, associated with Banker’s Life; and was a 42 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 13 in Gresham. Over the years, Corky enjoyed the neighborhood children and especially loved the babies that entered her life. She took pride in her yard work and growing beautiful flowers. Her home was the central gathering place for her family. She loved having her nieces and nephews over, and welcoming the additional great nieces and nephews into the family. Her heart was so full of love…especially for her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her siblings: Darlene Kath of Lincoln, NE; Betty Schultze of York; Jack Hedrick of Kentucky; Boyd (Janet) Hedrick of York; Judy (Jim) Bliss of Grand Island, NE; Janet Strong of York; and Michael (Judy) Hedrick of York; two sisters-in-law: Helen Hedrick of Rogers, AR and Janet J. Hedrick of Omaha, NE. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Stanley and David, two nephews, and brothers-in-law: Alvin Kath and Daniel Schultze.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 19, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating. Interment followed at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Gresham. Memorials may be directed to the church.
