Stanley R. Hartman

Stanley R. Hartman, age 83, of York, retired longtime York businessman, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Stromsburg. Stanley was born at Gresham, NE on October 31, 1922 to Gordon and Tressa (Rector) Hartman. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion and 40&8. Stanley was a longtime York area pharmacist, having worked in Gresham, York and Sutton. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in York, York Masonic Lodge, York Rite, Sesostris Shrine, Meridian Shrine Club Clown Unit and the Elks Lodge. He was past chairman of the York Public Service Commission and was York’s first Yorkfest King. In May of 1972 Stanley was married to Esther Beattie in York. Stanley is survived by his step-son Don (Mary) Beattie of Omaha; stepdaughter Mary Koch of Columbus; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; his brother Deb Hartman of York; nieces, Mary Hartman of Omaha, Barb (Chris) Lundberg of Kingwood, TX and Jane (John) Lott of York. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Esther and stepdaughter Joan Ernst.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 15, 2006 at 10:30 am at the First Presbyterian Church in York. Military graveside services followed at Greenwood Cemetery at York. Memorials may be given to favorite charity.
