Morgan A. "Deb" Hartman

Morgan A. “Deb” Hartman age 92 of York, NE died Thursday September 4, 2008 at Stromsburg. He was born August 29, 1916 in York to Gordon A. and Tressa (Rector) Hartman and was a longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church in York.

Deb was formerly a partner with his father and brother Stanley in the G.A. Hartman and Sons Rexall Drug stores in Gresham, Stromsburg and York. A World War II veteran Deb was active in many military, social and fraternal organizations throughout his life. Among them were the American Legion as past commander in the Gresham and Stromsburg communities. Was past Grand Officer of all York Rite Orders of Nebraska and the National Perpetuity Sojourners Chapter #19 as well. A 60 year member of the Stromsburg Masonic Lodge #126 having received the Bronze Jordan Medal as being the oldest living member of the that group. Scottish Rite, Sesostris Shrine Club and the Meridian Shrine Club. He was also on the Pioneer Mental Health Advisory Board.

He was active in the York Chamber of Commerce as well as the Chamber Ambassadors. A member of Rotary International he received the Paul Harris Award. 40 & 8, the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, former member of the Martin Luther Home Board of Directors, 70 year member of the Nebraska Pharmacist Association, the American College of Apothecaries, the National Association of Retail Druggists and the American Pharmacists Association.

He is survived by three daughters, Mary Hartman of LaVista, NE, Barbara and her husband Chris Lundberg of Kingwood, TX and Jane and her husband Dr. John Lott of York. Grandchildren include Joshua Lundberg and Matthew Lundberg both of Kingwood, TX.Abbie and her husband Brad Burk of Los Alamos, N.M., Dr. Katie and her husband Dr. Toby Comer of Grand Island, NE, Great grandchildren Kaylie Burk and Landon Burk both of Los Alamos, N.M, Elijah Comer, John Brody Comer and Dane Comer all of Grand Island. Also surviving is a sister in law Dorothy and her husband Dale Sterup of York. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Phyllis, his brother Stanley, grandson Christopher Lundberg and a sister in law Esther Hartman.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 pm Monday, September 8, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Jeff Wulf officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in York with memorials being directed to the family for later designation.
