Nora J. Gruber
Nora J. Gruber, age 79 of Gresham, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at Seward, Nebraska. She was born October 9, 1924 at Surprise, NE. to Herbert and Amy (Armagost) Neujahr. Nora graduated from Surprise High School in 1941 and was married to Arnold Gruber at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Rising City, NE on April 1, 1945. She lived all of her married life on a farm south of Gresham. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Gresham where she was baptized and confirmed in 1941, St. Peter’s Ladies Aid, LWML, and taught Sunday School for many years.
She is survived by her daughter Marilyn (Mary) and her husband Don Tonniges of Gresham; son, Aaron Gruber and wife Deb of Gresham; grandchildren, Todd (Stephanie) Tonniges of Fort Calhoun, NE, Amy (Wade) Dunn of Cimarron KS., Jennifer Gruber of Gresham; sister, Bonnie Gruber of Waco; brothers, Harlan Neujahr of Anza, CA. and Donald (Mary Jean) Neujahr of Lincoln, NE; an uncle, Henry Neujahr of Columbus, NE. She is also survived by many special cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Ralph and David and sister Orletha Matzner.
Nora loved her family more than anything and would do anything in her power for them. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved going to Todd’s horse shows and to Amy and Jennifer’s softball games. Watching Todd progress and advancement as a pilot, Amy in the field of physical therapy and Jennifer starting her college career gave her great pleasure. Nora was their special grandmother.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 14, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Gresham with the Rev. Timothy Prince officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
