Helen Grosshans

Helen Agnes Grosshans, age 89, of York, NE died Tuesday, April 21, 2009 in Lincoln. She was born to Mabel and Augustus Van Horne in Ansley, NE on December 30, 1919. The family moved to Pawnee City, NE where she grew up and graduated from high school. She then moved to Lincoln where she worked for Martin and Cole and met Don Grosshans of York. She and Don were married on March 2, 1941 in York and she has resided there since. Helen worked for the York Foundry and York State Bank but spent most of her time as a homemaker.

She is survived by her children, Mark Grosshans of Lincoln and Larry (Janet) Grosshans of Firth, NE; grandchildren, Andy (Kellie) Grosshans of Waverly, NE, David (Christina) Grosshans of St. Louis, MO, Michael (Sara) Grosshans of Cortland, NE. Great-grandchildren are Brenden, Mollie, Baron, and Wesley. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Pammy, Paula, Pete, Pat, Penny, Roxanne, Suzanne, Joanne, Gretchen, and Patty; several cousins; and special friends, Greg Ransom, Irene Johnson, and Norma DeBoer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Linda, sister Joann, and brothers Wayne and Gus.

Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the Metz Chapel in York. There will be no viewing or visitation as it was Mrs. Grosshans wish to be cremated.
