Harry Gordon
Harry W. Gordon age 80 of York, NE died Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at Fairmont, NE.
He was born September 22, 1927 at Nebraska City, NE to Francis E. and Ella Mae (Goolsby) Gordon. Harry graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1946 and then enlisted in the Army serving his country in World War II. After the service he purchased his brother’s body and fender shop in Pawnee City and later worked in body shops in Humboldt, Tecumseh and Omaha, later starting A All Makes Body shop in York in 1982, retiring in 1999.
He was an active member in the International Order of Odd Fellows, the York Masonic Lodge serving as past Worshipful Master, was a member of the Meridian Clown Club, the Order of the Eastern Star, the York American Legion Bolton Post 19, the Order of the Arrow and was a Boy Scout Master in Pawnee City and Tecumseh City for many years.
On January 14, 1952 he was married to Virginia Mae Brannin at Falls City, NE.
He is survived by his wife Virginia of York, two sons, Francis E. “Eddie” and his wife Kay Gordon of York and Terrence Lee Gordon also of York.
Two grandchildren Erica and her husband Rex Smith and Kyle Smith and his fiancée Nicole Day all of York. Two great grandchildren Deven Smith and Kayla Smith of York.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 14, 2007 at the Metz Chapel in York with the Reverend John Dale officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in York. Memorials may be directed to the Shriner’s Transportation Fund in Lincoln or to the American Cancer Society.
