Anna Goertzen

Anna Goertzen, age 92 of Beatrice, died Thursday, June 8, 2006 at Park View Center in Beatrice. Anna was born January 13, 1914 to David S. and Margaretha (Epp) Buller on the family farm, rural Henderson, Nebraska. Anna graduated from Henderson High School and was a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. Anna was united in marriage to Harry J. Goertzen on January 1, 1938 at her parent’s home in Henderson.

Anna belonged to the Mission Circle, was an RSVP Member, taught Sunday School for the primary department, and a member of the Singspiration group. She enjoyed singing, especially at nursing homes, cooking, sewing, and crocheting. She most cherished the time that was spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Anna is survived by two sons: John (Delores) Goertzen of Milford, NE and Carl (Louise) Goertzen of Beatrice, Nebraska; one daughter: Eleanor (Al) Quiring of Lincoln, NE; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers-in law: John Martens and Abe P. Thieszen both of Henderson: three sisters-in-law Goldie Friesen and Mary Friesen both of Aurora and Velma Goertzen of Henderson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, and six sisters.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 12, 2006 at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. Burial followed at Bethesda Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Bethesda Church Radio Broadcast.
