Anna Goertzen
Anna Goertzen, age 93 of Henderson, NE, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Henderson. She was born on September 1, 1914 in Hamilton County to Jacob D. and Helena (Peters) Janzen. She attended District 73 East country school and one year of Bible School at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. On July 8, 1934 Anna was united in marriage to Daniel C. Goertzen in Henderson.
Anna was a farmwife and had a wealth of knowledge regarding agriculture and anything related to it. She was a lifelong member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson where she was a member of the choir, Missions Circle, was a Sunday School and Bible School Teacher. She enjoyed gardening and cooking the vegetables that she grew. She always had an interest in her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s church and school activities. Anna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be forever missed.
Left to cherish her memory is a son, Wallis Goertzen and his wife Rozella of Henderson and a daughter Janet and her husband Myron Peters of Hampton, NE; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Olga Friesen, Clara Ratzlaff, and Doris Graber; one brother Henry Janzen and his wife Jean; brother-in-law Melvin Kroeker and a sister-in-law Elva Janzen.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two brothers Gus and Walter, three sisters Tena (Fred) Friesen, Goldie (Harry) Wall and Deloris Kroeker, and brothers-in-law: Albert H. Friesen, Homer Graber, and Harry Ratzlaff
Graveside services were Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Bethesda Cemetery, Henderson, NE. Memorial services followed at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson with the Reverends Weldon Martens and Rachel Friesen officiating.
