Ruth Gocke

Ruth “W.A.” Gocke age 97 of York, NE died Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Henderson, NE. She was born April 17, 1912 in rural York, NE to Ernest and Anna (Wergin) Schlueter and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in York where she was a member of the Quilting Circle. Ruth loved raising flowers, gardening, solving crossword puzzles and playing cards with her family. On October 28, 1934 she was married to Norman A. Gocke at Waco, NE.

She is survived by her son Galen and his wife Judy Gocke of York and a daughter Marlus and her husband Wayne Sandall also of York; 8 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild. Also surviving is a sister in law Florence Schlueter of York. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Walter and Reuben and an infant son.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 am Tuesday, August 18th 2009 at Faith Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Allen Bergstrazer officiating. Graveside services will then be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday at St John’s Cemetery south of Waco. Visitation begins after 1:00 pm Monday with her family greeting friends later that evening from 7:00 – 8:30 pm at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church or to St John’s Cemetery at Waco.
