Lindell Gocke
Lindell R. Gocke age 86 of York, NE died Thursday, January 12, 2006 at York. He was born May 12, 1919 in rural Waco, NE to Fred and Wilhelmina (Klone) Gocke and was united in marriage to Delores Brackhan on February 15, 1947 at Waco. Lindell farmed south of Waco from 1946 until 1965 and then worked for Sunflower Packers in York for 1 year. Next he worked for Kroy Metal Products in York for over 20 years and was a courier for the First National Bank of York for another 10 years. He was a veteran having served in WWII. Lindell was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Waco, the V.F.W., the York American Legion Post and enjoyed spending time in his garden, reading and driving around the York area sightseeing.
He is survived by his wife Dolores of York;
three sons, Stan and his wife Delaine Gocke of York, Dean and his wife Jackie Gocke of Seward, and Brian and his wife Trudy Gocke of York;
two daughters, Pat Smith and Carol Gocke, both of York;
nine grandchildren, Steve and his wife Sheryl Gocke of Omaha, Shannon and his wife Tina Gocke of York, Dawn Gocke of Stromsburg, Curtis and his wife Tahlia Gocke of Wellington, KS, Kayla, Luethke and Dalton Gocke all of Seward, Betty Wink of Grand Island, and LeAnn and her husband Gene Brown of Ellsinore, MO.
eleven great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Schuyler and Preston Gocke of Omaha, Gunnar and Cassidy Anderson of Omaha, Bailey and Harrison Gocke of York and Amelia Gocke of Wellington, KS. James and his wife Tasha Davis from Germany and Misty and Joshua Davis both of Ellisinore;
one great-great-granddaughter, Skylar Davis from Germany;
two sisters, Irene and her husband Grandell Workman of Hemet, CA, and Florence and her husband Henry Paulus of Porterville, CA;
four sisters-in-law, Lenora Gocke of Seward, Amanda Gocke of Exeter, Ruth Gocke of York and Dorothy Gocke of Utica.
Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, five sisters and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 16, 2006 at St. John’s Lutheran Church south of Waco. Interment was in the church cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Arthritis Foundation, the Asthma Research Foundation or St. John’s Lutheran Church.
