Evangeline Glenn
Funeral services for Evangeline (Kealiher) Glenn, age 86 of Mesa, AZ, will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Metz Chapel in York. Burial will be in the Arborville Cemetery. Evangeline Kealiher Glenn was born December 23, 1917 at Bradshaw, Nebraska and went on to be with our Lord, December 17, 2004. She was the daughter of Moses and Mabel Graves Kealiher of Polk, Nebraska.
Evangeline’s first marriage was to Everett Tracy in 1936. This union bore two children who survive her, Jeanette Kahl of Arizona and Dale Tracy of Louisiana.
Evangeline trained to be a teacher, attending York College in York, Nebraska, and later received an A.B. Degree from University of South Dakota, at Vermillion. She received a Master’s Degree from Miami University at Oxford, Ohio, where she continued post- graduate work for an additional year. Evangeline taught grades one through twelve, concentrating most years at second grade level where she excelled in teaching reading. All thirty-two years of teaching were accomplished in Ohio.
Upon retirement, in 1979, she wrote a book, “How To Help Your Child Learn To Read”..
In 1963 Evangeline and Raymond Glenn were married in Hamilton, Ohio, residing in Fairfield until Ray’s death in 1988. She then moved to LaVerne, California and recently moved to Mesa, Arizona.
Evangeline had many hobbies. She was an expert flower and vegetable gardener, an avid reader, designed and made exquisite silver and gold jewelry, and with husband, Ray, showed Hackney ponies. They won many top prizes at various State Fairs.
Evangeline was always active in church. She loved to say her greatest treasure, was knowing Jesus and being guided through joys and trials by reading God’s word and prayer.
Surviving family members are her son, Dale and daughter, Jeanette and their families, step-son, Dennis Glenn and family of Fairfield, Ohio, sisters Vivian Larsen of Washington, Evaline Newbury of Colorado, brothers Noel Kealiher of Nebraska, Gordon Kealiher of Wisconsin and Gail Kealiher of Colorado, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Evangeline will be interred with many members of her family at Arborville Cemetery, Polk, Nebraska. Metz Mortuary in York, Nebraska is handling the arrangements. Suggested donations may be made to Hospice organizations, Bobby Grove Homeless Ministry or any Christian Mission Program.
