Nola Rae Gilmore
Nola Rae Gilmore, age 80 of York, died Friday, July 1, 2005 in York.
She was born on a farm northwest of York on February 21, 1925 to James R. and Gladys (Smith) Schoch. Nola was a 1942 graduate of Benedict High School and attended Kearney State Teachers College. She taught in rural schools in York and Seward Counties until her marriage to Calvin Gilmore at Belleville, KS in January of 1945.She enjoyed traveling, reading, camping, being with her family and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in York. Nola worked for many years at Ben Franklins and later Bits and Pieces in York, before her retirement in 1986.
Nola is survived by her grand son Edwin Jack and his wife Lisa Taylor Jr. of York, and granddaughters, Edwina (Thomas) Carr of York and Jackie (Dean) Soltesz of Geneva; great-grandchildren; Thomas Carr Jr. of York, Bryan Soltesz, Dean Soltesz Jr., Desiree Soltesz and John Robert Soltesz all of Geneva and Jackson Carter Taylor of York. Two sisters, Jamie (Gerald) VanOstrand of Bakersfield, CA., and Celiece Crowdell of Benedict; two brothers Richard (Judy) Schoch and William (Caroline) Schoch all of Benedict; son-in-law Edwin Jack Taylor Sr of Geneva, cousin Betty Radcliff of York and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, daughter Gayla, infant daughter Virginia, step mother Millie Schoch and brother Howard.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 7, 2005 at the First Church of the Nazarene. Private family committal will be held at a later time. Visitation begins after 5:00 p.m., Tuesday at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the church.
