Joan George

Lois Joan George, age 72 of McCool Jct., NE died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at McCool Jct. She was born January 7, 1936 at York, NE to E.H and Chrystal (Cook) George. She was a 1954 York High School graduate and completed her B.A at Creighton University in 1966 and her M.A. at UNO in 1968. She taught elementary school through college courses for almost 50 years. She won numerous teaching awards over the years including Teacher of the Year. Joan touched innumerable people’s lives over the years as a teacher, a mentor, and co-worker. After retiring she moved to the farmed and enjoyed her garden and her pets.

She is survived by her daughters, Suzanna Elizabeth George of San Leandro, CA and Mary Catherine (Dallas) Havens of Geneva, NE; four grandchildren, Mandalia, Mariah, Dawson and Marisa Havens of Geneva; sister Felice Roesler of Lincoln; nieces, Michelle (David) Bockman of Lincoln, Lisa (Steven) Loesch of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Melissa (Ross) Klameth of Portsmouth, RI and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorials services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 1, 2008 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, York, NE, with the Reverends Mark Tasler and Ken Borowiak officiating. Cremation-no viewing. Private family inurnment will be held at a later time.
