Geraldine George

Geraldine A. George, age 80 of York, NE, died Saturday, October 8, 2011 in York. She was born June 12, 1931 in Sutton, NE to Abraham J. and Violet (Harter) Buller. She attended elementary school in Henderson, NE and graduated from York High School in 1948. She married Wayne Brackhan of Waco, NE in 1948. He passed away in 1982. She married Ray George of Stromsburg, NE in 1987. He passed away in 1990.

Gerry helped with farming until her first husband’s death. After moving to York in 1984, she worked as a desk clerk at Super 8 Motel for 11 years, retiring in 1995. She was confirmed in 1952 at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Waco and joined Emmanuel Lutheran in York in 1956. She was a member of the LWML and was active in church circles. She was a volunteer of the American Cancer Society and participated in the Relay for Life since its beginning in York. She was a member of the Wellness Wanderers Walking Club and the Beaverette Club.

Gerry enjoyed gardening and flowers, sewing, walking and exercising, her collections, traveling with the York Fun Club, spending time with her grandchildren and her coffee group.

She is survived by one son Michael W. Brackhan of York and one daughter Linda and her husband Carl Tarlowski of Lincoln, NE; four grandchildren: Nick Tarlowski and Karissa Stephens, Annie Tarlowski and fiancé Eric Dolezal, Mindy Tarlowski and Tim Tarlowski; sister-in-law Kathy Buller of York; three stepchildren: Todd and Norah George, Steve and Eileen George, and Kathy Read; seven step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, an infant daughter, and three brothers, Don and his wife Lois Buller, Dale, and Bob Buller.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, York. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery, York. Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
