Bonnie George
Bonna “Bonnie” Jean George age 76 of York, NE died Friday, January 23, 2009 in her home. She was born March 19, 1932 to Harry A. and Mary Helen (Lincoln) Wright in rural York. On June 9, 1950 Bonnie was united in marriage to Robert D. George in York. Bonnie attended Southeast Community College in Beatrice, where she received her LPN degree after their kids were through with school themselves. She was a nurse and worked in that profession for 10 years.. Bonnie was a former member of the East Avenue United Methodist Church in York. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed reading and working word puzzles. Most of all, she cherished the time that she was able to spend with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Bob of York; sons: Doug (Sue) George of York and Glenn (Donise) of Austin, TX; daughters: Cindy (Gary) Troha of Benton, LA and Brenda (Joe) Portela of Las Vegas, NV; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers: Lyle (June) Wright of Myrtle Beach, SC, Lloyd (Mary Ann) Wright of Blytheville, AR, Marvin (Gloria) Wright of Wichita, KS, and Kermit (Vereen) Wright of Council Bluffs, IA; sisters: Mary (Floyd) O’Brien of Modesto, CA and Eileen (Jack) Frost of Lincoln, CA; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Keith Wright, and grandson Cyrel George.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Metz Chapel with Mary Scott officiating. Burial followed in the Rosemond Cemetery, northeast of York.
