Donald Funk
Donald D. Funk age 91 of Sun City West, AZ died October 31, 2008 at Sun City.
He was born August 13, 1917 west of Gresham, NE to George and Emma (Scott) Funk.
Don was a graduate of Gresham High School and Tulsa University with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He was a flight instructor for the Army Air Corps and then owned and operated D.D. Funk Aviation in Broken Arrow, OK and then moved it to Salina KS. He designed, built and marketed his own aerial crop dusting plane called the Funk F23. He later designed aircraft for Boeing Aircraft CO finally retiring from McDonald Douglas.
On August 6, 1953 he was married to Luwana Behnken at Hollandale, Miss.
Survivors include his son Jerry and his wife Jean Anne Funk of Enid, OK.
Four grandchildren and four great grandchildren and one nephew Frank Steffen of Sun City West, AZ.
Proceeding him in death were his parents, his brother Harold and his sister Ruth.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, November 6, 2008 at the Metz Chapel in York with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to American Heart Association or to the family for later designation.
