Virginia A. Friesen

Virginia A. Friesen, 84 of York, died Sunday, September 28, 2003 in York. She was born February 15, 1919 in York County to Gus and Anna (Gallagher) Burhoop. She was a 1937 graduate of McCool High School. Virginia married “Shorty” Norman Friesen on November 8, 1937 in Bellville, KS. She worked at Standard Brands in York for 25 years and was a long time employee of the Bell Clinic and York Medical Clinic and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York.

Survivors include her son, Howard (Marlene) Friesen of York; daughter, Virginia “Ginger” Williams of Louisville, CO; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Grace Bondegard of York and Helen (DeWayne) Triplett of GreenValley, AZ. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, 1 grandson, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery at York.
