Vaughn E. Ledford Friesen

Vaughn E. Ledford Friesen age 88 of Huron, S.D. formerly long time resident of Henderson, Nebraska died Saturday, October 9, 2004 at Huron.

She was born December 21, 1915 in York County, NE., to Barton J. and Iva (Gilmore) Ledford. Vaughn was a longtime teacher and a member of Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. She was also an active member of the Henderson Hospital Auxiliary, Mission Circle, Delta Kappa Gamma, the National Education Association and the York Area Retired Teachers Association. On October 7, 1939 she was married to Frank E. Friesen at Litchfield, NE.

She is survived by a son-in-law Don Mendel of Doland, S.D. Three grandsons, Clifford and his wife Angela Mendel of Doland, S.D., Miles and his wife Grace Mendel and Merritt and his wife Jill Mendel all of Doland, S.D., two granddaughters, Heather and her husband Dave Brondsema of Huron, S.D. and Pamela Mendel of Kiev, Ukraine. Also surviving are 12 great grandchildren, Megan and Melanie Sheffler, Emilee, Elizabeth, Hannah, Michael, Blake and Seth Mendel. Hilary, Leon, Leslie and Marissa Brondsema. She was preceded in death by her parents, parents in laws, her husband Frank, a son Dale, two brothers in laws, a sister Lois.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson with the Reverend Weldon Martens and Reverend George Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in the Bethesda Cemetery near Henderson. Memorials may be directed to the Henderson Healthcare Services. Visitation begins after 5:00 p.m., Monday at Metz Mortuary in Henderson.
