Ruth A. Friesen
Ruth Arlene Wach Friesen, age 82 of Henderson, NE, died Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Henderson Care Center. She was born July 3, 1928 in Sutton, NE to Herbert and Alma (George) Wach.
Ruth was a 1947 graduate of Sutton Public School. She taught country school two years in District 65 in Clay County and one year in District 80 in York County.
Ruth was baptized by Rev. Kirchhefer in the Hope Reformed Church in Sutton, NE. She was confirmed in April 1943 by Rev. Paul Traeger and then became a member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Sutton, NE.
On June 19, 1949 she was married to Donald I. Friesen in Sutton at the Emmanuel Reformed Church, by Rev. Calvin Stuebbe. To this union two children were born, Steve and Julie.
She was a 4-H leader and Boy Scout den mother. She belonged to the York and Midwest Navy Mothers Club, which included fundraising projects for veterans. Ruth served as a local and state commander and many other state offices, receiving awards from Governor Exon and Governor Kerry.
Ruth so loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed all of their activities, interests, and accomplishments.
Survivors include her son Steve (Sera) Friesen of Henderson and daughter Julie (Ardean) Buller also of Henderson; grandchildren: Jennifer (Stephen) Socha of Lincoln, Dan (Darcy) Friesen of Henderson, Mandy (Matt) Meyer of Lincoln, Michelle Buller of Lincoln, Chad (Leah) Buller of Omaha, and Todd Buller of Henderson; great-grandchildren: Andrew, Kyle, Nathan, Caleb, and Jason Socha of Lincoln, George and Josephine Friesen of Henderson, Amaya Friesen of Lincoln and Charlie Buller of Omaha.
Also surviving are sisters-in-law Talitha Wach of Sutton, Shirley Wach of Conyers, GA, and Edna M. Friesen of Aurora, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald I. Friesen, brothers Kenneth Wach and Lawrence Wach, sister-in-law Mae Friesen, and brothers-in-law Paul Friesen and George Anthony Friesen.
Memorial services were held at 4:00 pm, Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Metz Chapel in York. Graveside services were held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday at Friesen Cemetery, Henderson. Memorials may be directed to Henderson Care Center or Friesen Cemetery.
