Marie Friesen

Marie Friesen age 94 of Henderson, NE died Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Henderson. She was born October 10, 1914 in rural York County, NE to Gerhard E. and Katherina (Huebert) Friesen. She was a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson and Mission Circle One and had previously worked at the Dutch Kitchen for several years. Marie enjoyed making quilts, gardening, baking, preserving foods and picking fruits while traveling. On January 30, 1936 she was married to John T. Friesen at Henderson.

She is survived by three sons, Don J and his wife Pauline Friesen of Henderson, Melvin and his wife Connie Friesen of Aurora, NE and LaVerne and his wife Carol Friesen of Wallace, NE Four daughters include Rubena and her husband Thomas Lloyd Hiebner of Henderson, Myrna and her husband Robert Johnson of Denver, CO. Mary and her husband Richard Claassen of Aurora, NE and Amanda and her husband Clarence Rempel of Newton, KS. 20 Grandchildren 32 Great Grandchildren Also surviving is a brother Levi H. and his wife Elizabeth Friesen of Lincoln and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson with the Reverends Weldon Martens and Jim Voth officiating. Burial followed in the Bethesda Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Henderson Healthcare Services.
