Catherine Friend

Catherine Mary Friend age 92 of Ellijay, GA died Saturday, February 4, 2006 at Ellijay. She was born November 25, 1913 at Meridian, Mississippi to Joseph Michael and Lucy (Hoban) McQuillan. Catherine was an active member in the Catholic Church and was a previous member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York. On February 5, 1940 she was married to Matthew Ellis Friend at Greeley, NE.

She is survived by two sons, John and his wife Nancy Friend of Lake Charles, LA and Bobby Friend of Marietta, GA. Four daughters, Francie and her husband John Woolard of Ellijay, GA, Trish and her husband David Moore Roswell, GA, Betty Bischof of Rome, GA and Sue and her husband Eric Manley of Omaha, NE; 25 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother Mick and his wife Janet McQuillan of Greeley NE and a sister Ann Dorsey of Omaha, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Catherine, three brothers, Father Bernard McQuillan, John McQuillan and Jim McQuillan and a sister Grace Dorsey.

Funeral services were held, Thursday, February 9, 2006 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York with Father Leo Seiker officiating. Burial was in St Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St Joseph’s Catholic School Foundation.
