Lois Frankforter

Lois M. Frankforter, age 80, of York, died January 1, 2006 at York. She was born December 18, 1925 on a farm south of Cortland, NE, to Lester and Ethel (Gilmore) Stanley. She attended country school and graduated from Cortland High School in 1943. She studied a secretarial course in Lincoln, NE and was a secretary at Cushman Motor Works in Lincoln (1944-1947). In 1947 she was united in marriage to Arnold Frankforter in Cortland. They moved to York in 1957 and in 1959 opened and operated Frank’s Apco Service until retiring in 1988. Over the years they became the parents of five children. Lois enjoyed sewing, gardening, and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. She is survived by three sons: Richard (JoAnn) Frankforter of O’Neil, NE; David (Mary) Frankforter of Yankton, SD; and Dr. Scott (Deanna) Frankforter of Grand Island, NE; two daughters: Dr. Diane Hourigan of Durham, NC and Margo Frankforter of York; and nine grandchildren: Andrew, Leesa, and Alex Frankforter; Matthew, Tyler, and Cody Frankforter; and Kevin, Kaitlin, and Lauren Frankforter. She is also survived by one brother, Eugene (Pauline) Stanley of Cortland, brother-in-law Norris (Charlene) Frankforter of Lincoln, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and infant brother.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the Metz Chapel in York with Dr. Mabrey Miller officiating. Private family inurnment was held at Highland Center Cemetery in Cortland, NE.
