Wilma Folkerts
Wilma M. Folkerts, age 80 of York, died Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at Henderson. She was born April 23, 1925 on a farm near Cook to Louis and Caroline (Brehm) Wellsandt. Wilma graduated from Cook High School and attended Peru State College. She taught school in Macedonia, Iowa prior to her marriage to Kenneth E. Folkerts on June 8, 1950 at Talmage. Wilma and Kenneth lived and farmed at Talmage and since 1959 southwest of York.
Survivors include her 4 children; Curtis and his wife Mary Folkerts of York, Lynn Folkerts of Elkhorn, Jean and her husband Doug Carlson of Omaha and Jayna Folkerts of Annandale, VA; grandchildren Bill, David, Janell and Michael Folkerts, John, Christine and Steven Carlson; great-grandchildren, Bree Carlson and Jackson Fischer; her sister Cara Lou Fischer of Lincoln; many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, sister and infant brother.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, May 27, 2005 at the Calvary Bible Church at Henderson with the Rev. David Coleman. Burial will be in the Council Cemetery west of York. Visitation will begin Thursday at 1 pm at Metz Mortuary in Henderson with family greeting friends Thursday from 6-8 pm.
